When a tool manufacturer promises a tripling of tool life, users are initially skeptical. However, because extensive tests on three machines confirmed the promise, Arno Werkzeuge has been stocking turning, drilling and parting-off tools at Schuhmacher Präzisionsdrehteile GmbH for years.
Dirk Dürre, Technical Buyer at Schuhmacher Präzisionsdrehteile GmbH in Spaichingen, explains: "We initially thought that the statements about tripling tool life were the usual full-bodied promises made by many suppliers when they want to get new business. The fact that things ultimately turned out differently, that the predictions were confirmed and that Arno Werkzeuge has been Schuhmacher's partner for over five years is also down to Armin König, a specialist consultant at the tool manufacturer from Ostfildern. When he knocked on the door in 2017, he not only had promises in his luggage, but also the opportunity for convincing tests. This impressed Dirk Dürre just as much as König's understanding of the processes.
Valuable process consulting
Over 100 tools from Arno Werkzeuge are now in use. These include drilling tools, turning tools, parting tools, tool changing systems and holders. The main products are AKB indexable insert drills, turning tools, SA parting-off systems and the AWL tool holder. Finally, the tool management system from Arno Werkzeuge was also convincing and provides the right tools quickly, safely, project-related and in a space-saving manner.
With over 100 years of company history, it stands to reason that the family business Schuhmacher Präzisionswerkzeuge GmbH knows a thing or two about turning. The experts for turned parts can machine any material, from plastic and aluminum to all types of steel such as 100 Cr6, 42CrMoV or 1,412. The series range from batch sizes of one to several million a year. The customer landscape is correspondingly diverse. Well-known OEMs from the automotive industry are just as much a part of it as medium-sized companies from the electrical and heating engineering sectors and small companies, for example from the medical technology sector.
Parts such as connecting pieces, bearing bolts or distributors are produced for them, as well as entire assemblies such as valve controls, chain tensioners or control slides. All of these products are drilled, turned, cut, milled and ground. 120 employees together with 56 machines on a production area of 4,500 m², mostly in three-shift operation, ensure that the parts are delivered to customers all over the world in high quality and at the right time.
